Pearls of Wisdom: The Holy Fashion Grail
Fashion Bloggers answer the question, What is your ‘Holy Fashion Grail’?
(re: a slightly unobtainable style item you are on a lifelong quest to possess?)
Shopping last year with my sister, she found a fabulous Missoni skirt and ever since, I have been searching for vintage Missoni knits (mostly mini dresses and cardigans). They are intricately beautiful, sublte yet bold, fresh yet classic, sophisticated yet comfortable and would be a ‘forever’ piece in my wardrobe.

A Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress - so flattering on all shapes and they are only about $300, so I am sure one day I’ll be able to afford one!

I have wanted a Vivienne Westwood armour ring for a really long time… since grade eight or something.

I am a Louis Vuitton enthusiast, so this may be a shock, but my ‘Grail’ is a Chanel 2.55 jumbo bag. It’s almost the perfect bag; it has a flap opening with the ‘cc’ lock, quilted leather, a long double chain shoulder strap and a hidden pocket for love letters. Retailing for over $4,000, it’s no wonder why I have yet to buy this masterpiece. It’s classic, romantic and one day it will be mine.

A wacky pair of Christian Louboutin booties - not only because affording a pair would require a small inheritance, but because I wish I could walk around in four-inch heels all day every day. His shoes are works of art, impeccably-made and would make even a track suit look hot.

I’ve been mooning over Alexander McQueen’s ‘Oyster Dress’ for like ten years, but with a price tag of $30,000, it’s more than slightly unobtainable.

For me, the ‘Holy Fashion Grail’ is not an object that can be purchased in time if you are patient and commited to saving your money for it. My aim is to inspire a respected fashion designer to create a fabulous clothing or shoe collection - to me that is the greatest accomplishment and compliment.

I almost could have written this word for word ……My ‘Grail’ is Chanel (not necessaily the 2.55 jumbo bag.) It’s ‘almost’ the perfect bag; but not the perfect one for me. Not sure that will be the bag of choice when I am ready to invest in a Chanel Bag.
I have almost purchased the classic ballet flats a half dozen time, and I am sure they will be in my near future. Not even a question. The classic black & tan model or the all black patent with the embossed CC on the toe.
Also thought I would like a Chanel Blazer or suit and that may well be a purchasein my future if I find the ‘perfect’ one.

Oh wait now… I read the rest of your blog…and ‘yes’ a Burberry Trench will also be a purchase I am thinking of making in the Spring. I am building a forever wardrobe. Now that I know my style, big thanks to you. I can purchase items that will be an investment and not disposable.
Christian Louboutin 4 inch heels get a very big ‘yes’ and a very big if…. if I could subtract 30 years. I am looking for the Christian Louboutin 2′ in wedge -in leopard print, love them!

My fashion holy grail would be something designed & made for me by Alexander McQueen or Vivienne Westwood. SO out of reach but oh, the thought of it makes me drool!

Hi Kristen!
Thank you for sharing those wishes. I never thought about this before, so I am slightly clueless? Of course the classic Chanel bag is a general dream we share with all fashion bloggers^^. Never saw this oyster dress before, amazing! And I fancy a pair of Louboutins, but I suppose they would look strange on me (according to the general rule that mostly celebritys wear it and many of the people around me would ask if ‘Louboutin’ is a French marmelade^^). So I guess I am happy and contend with what I have now and will keep my eyes and mind open to everything inspiring that crosses my (fashion) way!
Lovely greetings,
Lilly

Wow - I have never seen those rings - but I want one now (and I am not even a ring wearer.)
November 19th, 2009 at 5:04 pm
they are selling those rings on Ebay quite reasonably….
My Holy Grail would be….the Chanel 2.55, LV Nomade handbag and a black Birkin…..
